Telangana

Telangana is the 29th and the youngest state of India and was officially formed on June 2, 2014, with Hyderabad as its capital. Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, and it came into existence under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of Parliament in 2014.

Situated on the south-central stretch of the Indian Peninsula, Telangana is the eleventh largest state of India and has a glorious past with social, cultural, historic and economic identity. The history of Telangana is incomplete without the reference of Nizams, who ruled the erstwhile princely province for more than 200 years. From Mauryans to Cholas to Britishers, the region has been ruled by multiple powers and has a rich glorious past.

Within years of its formation, Telangana has emerged as a pharmaceutical manufacturing hub in the country with Hyderabad having a dominant position. Hyderabad has seen tremendous growth in the software industry and is now an Information Technology (IT) hub of India. The official language of the state is Telugu, and a huge chunk of the population also speaks Hindi and Urdu.

The old and new blend of culture makes Telangana an attractive tourist destination. The world's largest integrated film studio complex Ramoji Film City is a favourite tourist hotspot. One of the world's noted and renowned historical monuments- Char Minar, Golconda Fort, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmahalla Palace, Ananthagiri hills, Ramappa Temple are some of the top tourist destinations. One of the largest mosques in India, Mecca Masjid is an important place of worship in Hyderabad and can accommodate 10,000 people.
